Foliar Pesticides Treatments & Feeding
Foliar treatments is a technique of feeding trees and controlling pests by applying a liquid fertilizer or pesticide directly to the leaves of the tree. The tree is then able to absorb essential elements through their leaves. Foliar treatments can be a rapid treatment and can be used with soil or trunk treatments to ensure completeness.
Foliar treatment applications are usually made with a low-pressure backpack sprayer and are ideal for tricky or sensitive areas.
Cut Surface Pesticide Treatments
The cut surface treatment method is very economical and usually has a very small risk of damage to areas which are not the target. The treatment does not require a large application time and can be used in winter, as long as the ground is not frozen.
The Cut Surface treatment method includes the following:
Hack & Squirt: cutting the base of the stem in a uniform pattern with an axe and applying herbicide to each cut.
Frill: cutting the base of the stem in a continuous cut with an axe and applying herbicide to the cut.
Cut Stump: cut stems at ground level and apply herbicide to 20% of the stump.
Basal Bark Pesticide Treatments
If you require a treatment for controlling woody vines and shrubs, as well as trees, the basal bark method will help as it can be made during any time of the year, avoiding snow or standing water around the basal parts of the stem.
